BUYER BEWARE
Please do not be tempted to buy a Tenterfield Terrier puppy from a pet shop. Come and talk to the Tenterfield Terrier Club before you buy. There are all too many heartbreaking stories to be told about pet shop puppies.
The puppy you buy direct from a breeder is VACCINATED AND WORMED. If you want a pup as a pet or a show dog you know it has had the best of care.
You will receive Tenterfield Terrier Club of Australia Inc and/or Canine Association of WA Inc accredited papers. You know who the parents are so you can get a better idea of how your puppy will grow up and what it's temperament is likely to be.
By purchasing a Tenterfield Terrier from a Club Breeder you will receive the help and support of experienced members of the Tenterfield Terrier Club of WA.
Below is a list of breeders in Western Australia who are also members of the Canine Association of WA and are bound by the code of ethics below. |

CODE OF ETHICS
Each member, upon signing an application for membership or renewal of membership of the Tenterfield Terrier Club of South Australia Inc shall, in addition to agreeing to be bound by the Constitution, Rules and Regulations of the Club, be also bound by the Tenterfield Terrier Club of South Australia Inc`s Code's of Ethics. This relates to responsible dog Ownership including the keeping, welfare, breeding, selling and disposing of dogs by members to the effect of the terms and conditions set out hereunder:
Each member shall comply with the following Code of Ethics and any member who fails to do so shall be guilty of an offence against these Rules.
1. I shall ensure that at all times all dogs under my control are properly housed, fed, watered, exercised and receive proper Veterinary attention if and when required.
2. I shall not allow any dogs under my care to roam at large and when away from home ensure they are kept fully leashed, or under effective control at all times.
3. 1 shall breed only for the purpose of improving the standard of the breed.
4. (a) 1 shall not breed from any bitch kept by me before she is twelve (12) months of age
(b) understand that I must not breed from the same bitch more than two consecutive seasons without a twelve month break (to further clarify this rule, the definition of "breed" means the date of mating).
5. I shall not permit any of my pure bred dogs to be mated to a dog of a different breed, to a cross-bred dog or to an unregistered dog of the same breed.
6. I shall not sell or otherwise transfer from my care any puppy under eight (8) weeks of age, thus allowing for vaccination to be given at six (6) weeks of age.
7. I shall ensure that all persons acquiring dogs from me clearly understand their responsibility for the care and welfare of the animal and that they have the time and facilities tie adequate fences, sufficient room and proper shelter etc) to perform their obligations.
8. I shall provide to all purchasers of dogs or dogs placed by me, written details of all dietary and vaccination requirements and/or an appropriate publication relating to such requirements and responsible dog ownership,
9. I shall not sell any dog to commercial dog wholesalers, retail pet dealers or directly or indirectly allow a dog to be given as a prize or donation in a contest of any kind.
10. I shall not knowingly misrepresent the characteristics of the breed, nor falsely advertise, or mislead any person regarding the performance of any dog.
